Mr. Jorge Lajara Pagán holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology from Michigan State University and a Master’s Degree in Food Science from The Ohio State University. He began his career in 1986 working as a college professor in the University of PR, Utuado Campus. From 1989 – 2002, Jorge worked for pharmaceutical companies such as Baxter Healthcare, Dupont Pharma, Dupont-Merck, Bristol-Myers and Schering Plough; holding different management positions in the areas of quality assurance/quality control. In 2002, he joined the FDA as a Consumer Safety Officer [CSO]conducting food [GMP, juice HACCP, seafood HACCP, acidified/low acid canned foods, dietary supplements] and drug inspections. He currently works as a CSO for the Office of Human and Animal Food Operations Division 4 East.
